Hi, I’m Kate Bingaman-Burt.
I’m an illustrator, educator, and daily drawer based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been drawing every day since 2006, and my work explores memory, consumption, and connection, usually through zines, objects, and Risograph printing.
I teach at Portland State University, where I head up the Graphic Design program. I also founded Outlet in 2017, a community print space I now run with co-owner Leland Vaughan. Outlet is home to a RISO studio, a zine library, and a rotating lineup of workshops and events.
Alongside teaching and personal projects, I create illustrations for editorial and commercial clients, including The New York Times, Highlights Magazine, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI, for the locals). I also speak and lead workshops around the country on creativity, developing your voice, and building a sustainable art practice.
Currently, I’m working on a book about my 20 years of daily drawing and sharing drawings, stories, and my creative process over on Substack.
